Frequently Asked Questions About Vertical Blinds
Can vertical blinds be motorized?
Yes. Motorized operating options are available for certain vertical window treatments. Motorization can make large windows and sliding glass doors easier to operate and can be especially convenient when the window treatment is difficult to reach. Depending on the product selected, you may have options for remote control, scheduling, and smart-home integration.
Do vertical blinds provide privacy?
Yes. When the vanes are closed, vertical blinds can provide significant privacy while also reducing incoming sunlight. You can adjust the vanes throughout the day to balance privacy, natural light, and your outdoor view. We'll help you select the appropriate fabric and configuration based on how much privacy each room requires.
Can I still use my sliding glass door with vertical blinds?
Yes. Many sheers and shadings can be paired with motorized operating systems. Motorization makes it easy to adjust your shades throughout the day and can be especially convenient for large or hard-to-reach windows. Depending on the system selected, you may also have options for remote control, scheduling, and smart-home integration.
Are vertical blinds outdated?
Not necessarily. Today's vertical blinds have evolved well beyond the basic styles many people remember. Modern options include soft fabrics, sophisticated colors, textures, and contemporary designs that can create a much more refined appearance. Products such as Luminette® Privacy Sheers and Cadence® Soft Vertical Blinds provide alternatives to traditional vinyl vertical blinds while maintaining the functionality needed for large openings.
Are vertical blinds good for large windows?
Yes. Vertical blinds can work particularly well for wide or oversized windows because their vertical vanes are designed to cover expansive openings. They provide flexible light and privacy control while creating a clean, balanced appearance. During your consultation, we'll look at your window dimensions and recommend an option that fits both the space and your design preferences.
Are vertical blinds good for sliding glass doors?
Yes. Vertical blinds are a popular solution for sliding glass doors because they are designed for wide openings and can be moved aside when you need to access the door. They also allow you to adjust the vanes to control sunlight, glare, and privacy. We'll help you select the right material, configuration, and operating option for your specific door.
